Commission a Portrait

I would be honoured to create a timeless oil painting of someone special. Whether it is a cherished family member, a beloved pet, or a meaningful moment, each portrait is crafted with care and realism.

Portrait Sizes

I offer a wide range of portrait sizes, and will work closely with you to choose the perfect dimensions for your piece.

I prefer to work on portraits in which the face is between 4 and 8 inches tall, big enough for some juicy detail, but not much bigger than life size.

Example sizes are shown below. I prefer to work on linen mounted on an ACM panel. These are 3mm thick aluminium composite material (ACM) which is rigid, lightweight and unaffected by temperature or humidity changes, making it an ideal, archival-quality support. Alternatively, custom sizes are available in traditional stretched linen in 2 inch varying lengths. During our initial consultation I can guide you through what materials and sizes would work best for your piece.

Pricing and Timings

Painting in multiple translucent layers results in incredibly life-like skin tones. This refinement of color means these portraits are time-consuming to create, with each painting easily taking hundreds of hours to bring to life. I don’t just go as fast as I can, I paint until my work is the best it can be, and the faces are beautiful and life-like. Size depending, 6 to 9 months is a typical turnaround time for portrait painting.

I endeavor to be as transparent as possible, so the above price estimates are starting points to begin the discussion. Intricacies of clothing, accessories, furniture and background make for a more engaging image but also increase the amount of time the painting will require. Additional figures similarly raise the price.
